This project mapped the diversity and complexity of environmental communication cultures. The term ‘cultures’ refers here to communities of practitioners who share professional assumptions about how the world works and how they can contribute to changing it. The project identified four cultures in environmental communication (efficient, strategic listening, emergent and idealist) and found tensions between professional cultures and interviewees’ idea(l)s of ‘good’ environmental communication.
